Mike Holloway “Southpaw from Arkansas” Slide & Blues Guitar

Mike Holloway’s musical journey began at a very young age, influenced by his father, a fan of Jimmy Reed. From the age of 8, he was carrying his one-legged dad’s guitar to blues jams in juke joints all through the Mississippi Delta. By the time he picked up the guitar, Mike latched on and never let go. He formed his unique Blues and Rock style from listening and jamming on tunes by artists such as BB, Albert and Freddie King. On top of Brickyard Hill, down the road from Willy Brown St in Yazoo, Mississippi, Holloway drew attention from blues artists all around him and became an intent student of his local legends. By 1989, Mike was on the road playing with Luke Duke and sharing the stage with bands like Rare Earth and Badfinger. His blues guitar stylings have backed artists like Miranda Louise, as well as Big Al and the Heavyweights. Being on the road for 250 shows a year took its toll, but also introduced Mike to a strong slide guitar influence in Sonny Landreth. Holloway then took to his own solo career, playing slide guitar and singing the blues. He has opened the stage for such acts as BB King, Buddy Guy and Little Feat (as well as travel the world in support of his own albums). Mike has been developing his slide guitar and blues style for 46 years, and looks forward to sharing what he has learned.

Michael Holloway he was named Entertainer of the Year and Guitarist of the Year by Music City Blues. He was also named Best Southern Blues Guitarist of the Year by Real Blues Magazine. Real Blues Magazine named Mike’s CD” Blues Travels” Fast as one of the TOP 5 SOUTHERN BLUES ALBUMS.
Michael Holloway and his band the Crosstie Walkers represented Rosedale, Mississippi (Crossroads Blues Society) at the 2010 International Blues Challenge. Mike has many recognitions as a guitar player, song writer and performer. This seasoned Bluesman is a song writer. Along the way Mike wrote a song as a tribute to Albert King who has inspired him so. Dan Aykroyd selected Mike’s tribute song to Albert King, “King of  the Blues,” as a feature on his show.
